En la antigua carretera de Orense -N-536-, y en la margen izquierda del r\u00edo Sil. Su t\u00e9rmino municipal se sit\u00faa junto al de <a href=\"https:\/\/koinecommerce.com\/blog-cerespain\/carucedo-municipio-y-ayuntamiento\/\">Carucedo<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El territorio est\u00e1 cubierto por casta\u00f1os, nogales y monte bajo. El hombre habit\u00f3 todos estos montes desde muy antiguo. Numerosos \u00ab<em>castros<\/em>\u00bb as\u00ed lo atestiguan.<\/p>\n<p>En todo el municipio, los romanos dejaron huellas de su estancia. Hoy se pueden ver aun canales que, desde muy lejos, tra\u00edan agua para lavar la tierra del yacimiento aur\u00edfero m\u00e1s importante del Imperio Romano: <a href=\"https:\/\/koinecommerce.com\/blog-cerespain\/las-medulas\/\"><strong>Las M\u00e9dulas<\/strong><\/a>. Esta gigantesca obra de ingenier\u00eda ha sido declarada por la UNESCO Patrimonio de la Humanidad.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17735\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17735\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17735 size-full\" title=\"Vista de Las M\u00e9dulas desde el Mirador de Orellan. Hoy la contemplaci\u00f3n de la explotaci\u00f3n minera es sobrecogedora por su belleza -el contraste entre el verde de los casta\u00f1os y el rojo de los picachos- y grandiosidad.<\/p>\n<p>Parte del <strong>embalse de Campa\u00f1ana<\/strong>, sobre el r\u00edo Sil se encuentra dentro del t\u00e9rmino municipal de Borrenes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cruza el municipio de Borrenes el Camino de Santiago de Invierno<\/strong>. Una alternativa \u00abamable\u00bb para los peregrinos del tradicional camino franc\u00e9s del Camino de Santiago durante el invierno.<\/p>\n<p>La actividad econ\u00f3mica es la agricultura, mejor dicho era, hoy es complemento de la actividad principal de las personas que aun viven en su municipio. Las cercanas canteras de pizarra dan mucho trabajo, c\u00f3mo los servicios, centrados en el turismo rural que generan las visitas a la mina romana de Las M\u00e9dulas. Varias son las casas rurales, hoteles rurales, bares y restaurantes, que se han abierto en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, donde el visitante puede dormir y disfrutar de la gastronom\u00eda berciana.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>El Ayuntamiento se ubica en la localidad de Borrenes<\/strong>.-<\/h3>\n<p>El municipio tiene 306 habitantes -2022-.<\/p>\n<p>En su Iglesia Parroquial se puede ver la imagen rom\u00e1nica de la Virgen de la Vega. Es un centro tem\u00e1tico del casta\u00f1o y las casta\u00f1as. Su cultivo, los problemas y la historia de este fruto en la zona. Fue muy importante para la alimentaci\u00f3n de personas y animales y lo sigue siendo como producto emblem\u00e1tico de su gastronom\u00eda.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Otras localidades del municipio de Borrenes.-<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>L<strong>a poblaci\u00f3n de Orell\u00e1n<\/strong> es un pueblo muy concurrido, ya que desde su <strong>Mirador de Orell\u00e1n<\/strong> se puede contemplar la grandiosidad de la mina de oro m\u00e1s grande del Imperio Romano. Desde la poblaci\u00f3n parte una carretera hasta un aparcamiento para coches junto al mirador. Desde el Mirador de Orell\u00e1n se puede contemplar la totalidad de la explotaci\u00f3n minera de Las M\u00e9dulas. Una multitud de personas a las ordenes de los romanos extrajeron, durante cerca de 300 a\u00f1os, el oro que Roma necesitaba para mantener el Imperio. Se puede visitar una de las galer\u00edas -es aconsejable ir provistos de linterna-. El viajero no olvidar\u00e1 nunca la imagen que desde el mirador contempla. Impresionante.<br \/>\nCerca de la poblaci\u00f3n se encuentran los restos del <strong>Asentamiento Metal\u00fargico de Orell\u00e1n<\/strong>. Fundado bajo el dominio romano, lo habitaban personas ind\u00edgenas no romanas y que trabajaban en la explotaci\u00f3n romana.<\/li>\n<li><strong>San Juan de Paluezas<\/strong>, cuyos monumentos religiosos son la Iglesia Parroquial -siglo XVI- y la Ermita de la Estrella. Muy interesante es la visita al \u00ab<em>castro<\/em>\u00bb prerromano, conocido como <strong>\u00abEl Castrel\u00edn<\/strong>\u00ab. Es un castro astur desde el cual hay una magnifica vista de El Bierzo.<\/li>\n<li>El pueblo de <strong>Voces<\/strong> cuenta con una Iglesia muy interesante. Las de San Juan de Paluezas, a primeros de junio, en honor de la Virgen de la Estrella y a mediados de agosto San Roque.<strong> Las fiestas de Orell\u00e1n<\/strong>, son el 29 de junio, se celebra la festividad de San Pedro y en enero San Pablo. La Chana celebra fiestas el 15 de agosto. El pueblo de Voces celebra fiestas en agosto, en honor de San Bartolo.<\/p>\n<p>En bares, restaurantes y casas rurales de Borrenes se puede disfrutar la gastronom\u00eda del Bierzo. Destacando el botillo, el pimiento asado, las empanadas, el cabrito, los chorizos, y de dulces, sobresalientes son los almendrados, roscas y roscones.<\/p>\n<p>Un aparte son los \u00ab<strong><em>magostos<\/em><\/strong>\u00bb de casta\u00f1as asadas, las cerezas en aguardiente o los diferentes orujos. Tambi\u00e9n destacan las anguilas procedentes del cercano <strong>lago de Carucedo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Famosas son l<strong>as peras carujas de Orellan<\/strong>. Variedad de pera propia del Bierzo.
